"Compact" doesn't or perhaps shouldn't mean sacrificing expenses on specific car items. For example, when my sister pulled down the passenger visor to fix herself, there was NO MIRROR! Crust!! Although this car got me where it needed me to get to--thank you!--it just seemed like a REALLY laughable car (on your part) that would WANT to force me to upgrade. Kudos (and smart on your part) to you if you intended for that! I had to choose this last minute car. That I got a card, I was happy. The price, however, was a heavy pill I HAD to swallow.

Everything with alamo was great! Only complaint is the return. Lots of construction around the rental car returns. Poorly placed signaged on where to go. Most of this is not alamos fault and on the airport. Overall fantastic experience.

I liked picking my rental car from about 12 in the lot. Alamo saved us some money that they could have ignored: I had bought an option I didn't need to buy. That's integrity.

Pros: I arrived at the car rental center at the DFW airport. Many vendors sold out of cars upon walk up, including Alamo. Got online and checked your website. Found out Alamo had cars. Made reservation. Went to desk and asked why they did not offer any earlier and why the price had jumped significantly. Gauging at its best! I needed a car immediately. After a 30 min wait while the attendant went into the back room to "talk to his boss" he came back with a over priced economy car. Paid and left.
Cons: Good interior cleaning before renting out. Due to the Covid situation, cleanliness is very important The kids had to wipe down the interior before our trip Otherwise everything else was excellent Thanks
Cons: Booked and didn't find out until making TWO trips that I could not rent a car! Extremely disappointed.

Price was different than online listing
I didn't like nothing about renting from Dallas , I rent from enterprise all the time . They made me keep my renter longer than I needed , extra charge me . Took the deposit for no reason and tried to say tax remind you I rent from them All the time they give you two totally The amount & the amount with the deposit . They charged my card 800 dollars for 6 days when it was suppose to be 638 with taxes . This was the worse experience with enterprise EVER .
Cons: Customer Service at pick up tried every trick to upsell me including blatantly lying. Made re-book twice online or face paying in additional $70. Then he dropped it to $50, then $20. Then finally honoured my agreed upon price. Pick up could have been 5 minutes. Enterprise upsell tactics turned pick up into 45 minutes and me being late to an event.
Pros: Drop off was easy
Cons: They charges an additional $50 in taxes, on top of the taxes and fees already in the price. When I called, they said the quoted price was only an "estimate". They charged a total of $75 in taxes and fees for 2 days.......on an $81 rental car.
Cons: There were no cars to even rent, they asked me to wait in line for 2 hours for a car. I refused and left

Pros: Staff were great! Particularly Hunter who arranged things nicely. Charlie who picked mne up was great!
Cons: Um location to where I was staying but I know things are limited. I dropped off a day early should be able to electronically track me and credit me one day rental. Need more drop off options. Should not be penalized for dropping at airport. Remember customers first! Your staff and equipment were great.

I could not find anything calling around myself. My kid told me about kayak and we had a rental within minutes.
Kayak let me book only for Avis to call me 45 minutes before my flight to tell me there are no rental cars available making me cancel my trip and waste airplane fair.

What a joke. Tried to change drop-off location and called Budget's toll-free Customer Service number and was on hold for 30 plus minutes the first time and had to answer an inbound call so call back later and held over 40 minutes and bailed. Called same Budget number late evening and followed prompts and got an Avis rep who can't answer anything related to Budget. CEO of Budget should be fired.
I deliberately reserved a small car for the parking space and the number of passengers in the backseat. Instead, they said they only had a pickup truck, which I was not only uncomfortable driving, but directly inhibited the trip as a whole. The truck itself was also given initially with a smashed headlight, but after we complained we got a different truck, this time with severely low tire pressure. Overall very negative experience.
Overall good experience. Fast friendly service. The car interior was not the best. The seat had big spots as if something spilled but never got cleaned.
Car was damaged, significant scratches and dents. No assistance in recording damage. Provided a carbon copy inspection sheet I completed on my own at the rental facility exit. A turn-in I was advised to take pictures "I case there is an issue."
Excellent service at pick up. The drop off at the Austin airport before the booth opened was a little strange leaving the car there without talking to a person. It would have been nice to know ahead of time to expect that.
The rep kept having trouble with the system while at the same time customers AFTER me were being waited on by other reps. I feel I should of been attended to BEFORE OTHER CUSTOMERS. I did not appreciate having to wait for the "system" to come back up while other customers just went ahead and got their vehicles. Also, the rep upgraded me to an SUV as a courtesy without asking if I would want the upgrade. I would of chosen NOT to upgrade as long as I was able to get the car in the range I had requested. The SUV was not clean and had not been washed and it smelled bad on the inside. Was not pleasant to drive in. What can be improved is CUSTOMER SERVICE should be #1 and ASK the customer to make the decision before imposing a vehicle not of their choice.
Not the car we asked for. It was gross. We had no choice because we flew into town and had to take it. Would not rent from them again

The interior of the car was really dirty.
The car was too small. I asked for a 7 passenger and it was a six. It smelled horrible! Smoke smell was so bad. When I expressed my concerns to the representative she didn't show any sympathy what so ever.

Getting the car was easy. I had a tire light come on everytime I started the car. I could not tell which tire it was referring as none were flat. I was worried about getting a flat so I did not drive much for the week I had the car. When I turned in the car I mentioned it (and had a picture of the warning) and the person that I turned the car in did not seem to care.

Upon arrival at the car rental facility, I was promptly processed and was off in the provided car within 15 minutes. The return was even easier and faster!
They warned me about toll roads, but then told me to avoid the 114 and 121. For the most part, those roads are non-toll
You messed up my rental! I put in DFW airport and got booked at Dallas Love Airport! Cost me lost of money in Lyft fares!
My trip to Dallas was cancelled due to the recent Covid spike but I was unable to make any change to my reservation or cancel. Therefore I lost $500 and the rental went unused. Extremely surprised and unhappy that in these times there isn't more flexibility. My last time using Kayak.

Car ran very well with excellent gas mileage. Good comfort for small car and relatively quiet.
Charged me $50 for early return.....sucks!
I waited more than an hour to get the vehicle. I payed for a Mazda 3 or similar size car. Instead, I was given a Chevrolet Spark, which is way smaller. Not a good experience.
We stood in line for an hour and a half at DFW, without reaching the front counter. We eventually went with National, and we're out in under 5 minutes.

Rental services desk closes too early, if you have a flight delay , you cant get a rental after 11pm. Now you have to get another rental from another company that cost more
Customer service could have been better. Also, general information on returning the vehicle wasn't included in any conversation, but was a hand-written note separate from the other forms. A simple conversation would have been extremely effective (Like.. "you don't return the car here, you have to return it to a completely different and not super close facility.").

We needed to change return location from TX to CA and they wanted to change our $500 rental to be $1500!! I told them that was a ripoff and that I would return our car and solicit a new rental. He agreed that would be cheaper but he couldn't do new reservations. So I had to make a separate call to do this TX to CA reservation, which came to $438 instead!! Seems like a Not user-friendly way to do business!
Customer service was horrible. Scammed on rental insurance although I declined it and it was MORE than the car rental price. Then they charged me for gas when I returned it with a full tank.
When we arrived we were told they didn't have a car for us. We were the only people in line and it took 25 minutes to check in when we had filled out all of the documents online. They finally found a car for us and couldn't find the keys. We did finally receive a car and the low tire pressure light came on about five minutes after we started driving. I would strongly discourage renting from Dollar.
Dollar over booked and did not have enough cars for all the customers. I waited over 3 hours for a car and eventually downgraded the car so i could make my scheduled events. Since i booked through a third party i was not compensated for this downgrade or for waiting 2 hours. People waiting after me most likely waited even longer as the line had increased to approximately 30 with no cars.

I didn't like anything about it. I was never able to get a car. And I ended up having to use Lyft all week. Thank for nothing. Oh yeah the they took $150 my money and I still never got a car. Never again.
Took 4+ hours to pickup my reserved rental car on arrival into DFW. Missed my grandfathers funeral over this. Would have meant a lot to have received a heads up prior to arrival so I could have made alternate plans. Overall the worst car rental experience I've ever had.

Payless pickup and drop off were quick and easy. Will use this group again. Had recently used other agencies for rentals where the check ins were extremely long with not enough agents and the ones there moving in slow motion.
The car stank ! Someone had obviously smoked in it. It was not a good experience
Lack of signage at airport, lack of clarity on where to go. Payless "system" was down at three of four counters at desk so had to wait for the one person who could even check me out. Checkout staff felt bored and annoyed. Bus driver was super nice. Drop off staff super friendly and fun.
Look out for after drop off charges!

I had a good experience overall. The one thing that could be better is having workers that pay attention to detail. For one the car I was given it's not the same one I saw on the paper before checking out. Also on drop off I couldnt get inside because some employer was talking with his friend infront of the entrance and was blocking my access inside the lot.
My flight got cancelled due to bad weather in Dallas. Payless didn't accomodate me for a change of reservation for 12 additional hours on the next day.
My car is as not in the parking lot when I went to get it. I went back inside and they made sure to drive up the next car. The car I received was not cleaned inside
The car we rented at Dallas' Love Field REAKED of moldy water and sour milk! It got worse as the week went on. Store-bought air fresheners installed on the AC vents did not mask the odor! The engine smelled of leaking antifreeze and the 2-wheel drive Toyota RAV-4 is NOT the best choice for city driving. The customer service salesperson was very professional but only wanted to upswell every service. ("No; I don't want to rent the Mercedes SUV for an additional $100 per day.) Finally, more than $100 in taxes in "fees" PLUS the unadvertised $200 security deposit pushed the $320 6-day rental to over $600 (deposit was refunded but I'll still pay daily average balance compounding interest on that charge on my credit card statement).
Staff did not seem to be able to handle a line of 5 people. The process took an extremely long time. They initially did not have the type of vehicle I reserved and then offered me a lower class vehicle instead. Had to wait an extra 15 minutes for them to get the correct vehicle. It was a very poor experience.
The waiting line was too long for over 45 minutes to pick. And the car was too old for such large amount of cash and yet it was my birthday. They ruined my celebration

We booked days in advance and when we got there, the van wasn't ready. Was told it could be up to 3 hours before we had one. They put us in something else that worked. I would just think with us scheduling it the week before, that the van would've been there as the reservation was confirmed.
I had rented a car at the airport. When I got there, they said the car was off site. And it was closed. They wouldn't transfer it over to that location saying there were no more cars. The man at the desk said they had cars. It was the worst experience and I willNEVER rent from Hertz again ever for the rest of my life. And I will tell my story so none will rent from Hertz. They were not helpful. Hertz stole my money because you have my but I got nothing. YOU STOLE FROM ME.

Hertz refused me a car because I questioned bring charged a deposit when I paid for the car in full. It was the worst experience I ever had
Car was not waiting, fee to talk to a human, rental agent left early and came the next day late, basically all the could bad was. Use another company.
This is the second time this has happened to me with them. I will never rent from Hertz again. At least this time I got smart and double checked to see if they had it ready for me before showing up. Last time I showed up on my way to my sons Cub Scout camp out only to be told that they were sold out and they were just going to refund the money. This time, also going to another Cub Scout camp out, I called a day in advance to check and once again they were sold out and I was told they would just refund my money. Thankfully Avis saved the day and I will be using them moving forward.
Hertz gave me a unregistered vehicle, which led me to get pulled over and harassed by cops. An illegal search and seizure happened and I was totally embarrassed. This was a TERRIBLE experience. How does Hertz not have updated registration on their vehicles that they are renting out? Very unprofessional.

The original location to pick up my car was closed for a year and I booked this reservation six months ago, then to be told I would have to pay more for a rental which I prepaid six months ago was ridiculous but whoever was the person I spoke to over the phone fir an hour made sure I got my car although they said they would reimburse me 5 dollars for the cab ride , The cab ride was 20 dollars from the airport ! And I had to get on the shuttle back to the airport to get a taxi for the new location on 1200 Ross Avenue , so will kayak reimburse my 20 dollar cab ride ??? When I got to Hertz the manager asked my name and was happy to honor the rate I was given six months ago ! Great car but please check if locations are open or closed down because when I initially called Kayak was still saying that the original pick up was open it was the Hertz rental rep that informed me that it was closed fir a year ! Please update your information
My experience is with kayak and it was not good. I specifically put in the search bar for rental cars at the DFW airport. Unknowingly an off-site location appeared as my option. To my surprise when I took a shuttle from the hotel to the airport and then to the rental car facility, I found out that yes I indeed had a reservation with Hertz but not at dfw, but an off-site location 40 minutes away! Never again will I book on kayak, they were extremely misleading in my booking reservation search. BEWARE!!!!!!
My rental was disgusting but I didn't have time to exchange it before my travel. Didn't even want to touch the radio from the amount of grease on the buttons.

Changing the car was a project
Pros: Drop off and pick up was easy. The guy brought the vehicle to us since it was the end of the day.
Cons: We booked a full size SUV but unfortunately they had to switch to a Van. We took the van but the van's seats were crooked. We drove half way and tried to switch the vehicles but anywhere we went they showed least interest in helping us.

Pros: The Shuttle Van was the 15 seat we needed and Little extra space. Good on Fuel as well.
Cons: The Insurance needed to cover the 15 Passenger Van was not enough to cover so i had to get additional Coverage$$$ Also there was a Safety issue with one of the seats did not have a belt buckle locking clip? Was missing so that had caused some discomfort to couple of passengers due to Sharp edges had caused some cuts and small lacerations on 3 passengers.

Pros: We had booked with Payless, VERY horrible service. And then desperately needed two large vehicles. Malik was so nice he immediately took us out to show us what they had available, offered great prices, and wrapped up our reservation quickly. Thank you SO much Malik!!

You should put a few signs to guide the customers to the exactly Advantage car return site at the rental care return(DFW airport). I had to spent more than 20 minutes in finding out the correct site for Advantages care return
For what I paid I should have gone to hertz , the car was terrible and had some mechanical issues. It kept making really weird noises and I honestly thought it was going to break down

Pros: Staff was friendly and the vehicle ran well.
Cons: Be prepared for a $250 security deposit, which MUST be on the same card as the rental amount. This definitely threw a bit of a wrench into our plans, but luckily we were able to make it work.

Cons: My flight was delayed. When I arrived there was no one at the counter as it was closed. Had to stay the night near the airport and get the car the next day. Was still charged for the day I did not have it on top of having to pay for a hotel.

Pros: The GM, who was opening the counter when I rented, was fun, professional, and kind. She was helping the crew get cars checked in while also handling reservations. She was great and the entire rental experience was pleasant
Pros: Car was perfect. However the Desk service was horrible.
Cons: Surprised last minute with request for insurance. Also, the tolls offering was not made clear - they used scare tactics to sell. So overpriced and for me a HUGE waste of money. I travel frequently but will not rent from advantage again.

Cons: At first they weren't going to lease us the car because they said we had no flight at the airport. Then They gave us a huge hassle about the credit card and the drivers and tacked on so many fees. By the time we were done we had no choice but to pay double what we had booked for.

Pros: Staff was helpful and friendly. I had a lot of questions about the toll pass and the agent who worked with me was very knowledgeable .
Cons: The main counter was closed and it redirected me to advantage rentals counter.

Pros: EZ Car center was closed, so their partner Advantage helped with the reservation. This was helpful. Friendly people.

Toll hostage scam in Texas
Pros: Car was nice and published price was low. Rental office was in the DFW airport.
Cons: 10 day rental and they tell me Texas tolls are unavoidable and impossible to pay while driving. So they offer/charge me $100 for a toll-pass so I won't have to pay countless $25 fines to EZ car for each $1 toll road I take. I'm upset with Texas and with EZ car rental for such a shady situation. I declined the $100 charge and am holding my breath for random charges.
Cons: I rented a full size, they gave me an economy size. Very disappointed with that.
